NC CEO Leadership Retreat

The NC Alliance of YMCA’s did an exceptional job organizing such a thought provoking leadership space so that we can come together to spend two days in Wrightsville Beach, NC in fellowship with the NC CEO Leadership Retreat.

It’s always a pleasure spending time with YMCA of the USA (National Resource Office) President and CEO Suzanne McCormick.

African American CEO Conference

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the African American CEO Conference in Chicago, an inspiring event that brought together leaders from across the nation. There are over 700 plus YMCAs in America, and I’m proud to share that 43 of these are led by African American CEOs, including 3 right here from North Carolina! I’m one of those 3!!

It’s truly inspiring to see the dedication and passion of these leaders as we work together to strengthen our communities and empower future generations. Proud to be a part of this movement!!

Thank You Seniors

To the Seniors, thank you. I wish we had you guys more than this one year but I thoroughly enjoyed coaching each of you and I look forward to seeing you all do some amazing things on the next level and in life. I pray we taught you guys how to be leaders, be organized, to be on time and that it takes no talent to give effort. Not only did these lessons help you Seniors throughout the year but it will help you in life and that’s what’s most important.
To the underclassmen, there is a lot of work to do and we will set goals and crushed them. Let’s run it back!

As Assistant Football Coach

This group is so special and I will never forget this team. The coaches committed to shifting the culture to be sure we give the 47 players to wear that Bertie across their chest have a memorable season. There was so many obstacles we faced before taking a single snap. All away games, creating space just to have practice, setting new standards and be sure that we gain the trust of our players so there was an environment to learn intangible skills that could be used on and off the field. Through it all I learned so much in the process. Meeting players where they at in order to get the absolute best effort day in and day out. Every player set goals prior to the season and so many of them accomplished those goals. We taught these guys how to manifest what they want out of this game and out of life and to see reach those goals spoke volumes. Winning a playoff game for the first time since 2007 and winning more games this season than Bertie did in the last 3 years was a true testament of being apart of something bigger than yourself.
